General: Leaves look a bit like those of Ornithogalum schlechterianum but the bulb seems different.
The plant was obtained as Ornithogalum. albucoides but seems different.

Location: About 30 km north of Mossel Bay on the Robertson Pass.

Distribution: Southern Cape. Cape Peninsula to Outeniqua - and Swartberg Mts. Rock crevices middle to upper elevations (Manning et al.)

The purpose of this blog is for you to take part in discussions about the bulbs posted - mainly aimed at the identification of the plants.

There are numerous Ornithogalums found in the wild regularly and it is sometimes very hard and even impossible to put a name to your find. This is due to the fact that literature often does not have illustrations of all known species, herbarium specimens are unclear, and possibly indeed a number have not been described. Please note that I for one am not an expert on the genus and will rely heavily on the input of those who know more.

I shall post here plants that I have identified and also those that I could not put a name to yet. Pictures of other contributors will also be posted and contributions are highly encouraged.

Whenever possible please supply pictures of plants in cultivation or the wild, and also pictures or links of herbarium specimens. These can be emailed to izimakana@gmail.com
